The entire Saw movie timeline explained in one convenient location by Jordan Breeding tied up in one, extremely inconvenient basement FULL OF TRAPS. Every movie from Saw I to the new Spiral movie gets covered. This is a brave effort. And one that makes...a lot of good points.

Writer Hates On Shrek, Everybody Sharpens Their Pitchforks

Remember kids, violence is never the answer. Unless you're a movie critic, of course, in which case you're basically obligated to replace your keyboard with a hatchet and destroy anything that threatens to spark joy in a mass audience.

To the delight of its many absurdly dedicated fans, today marks twenty years since the release of the first film in the beloved Shrek franchise — but not everyone was happy to celebrate the milestone. Leading the condemnation was a piece in The Guardian, accusing the movie of being crass and outdated. In it, writer Scott Tobias takes offence at everything from its celebrity cast to the fact that the main character flushes after he poops.

Shrek is one of the defining movies of the early 2000s, one that won an Oscar for its huge contribution to film. Shrek is one of the few cultural artefacts to unites the age groups, as the war between Gen Z and Millennials rages on. Most important of all, Shrek's cultural impact has been so powerful it has gained a formidable second life as a meme that rivals any animated movie produced before or since.  In short, no media outlet would get away with publishing this type of slander without an almighty pile on.

Sure enough, a lot of people have reacted with horror at this attempt to smear Shrek's good name. While a few have quietly agreed with the main points the article makes, many others have generated enough outrage to power an outrage factory for quite some time. In the words of the legendary green ogre himself, get out of my swamp.

Weird & Funny Behind-The-Scenes Photos From Film & TV

Memes can be made out of pretty much everything. That's been proven by a whole lot of textbook illustrations. But thanks to the Twitter account @behind_pics, we're learning that the same can be said of candid photos taken behind the scenes of classic movies and television shows. Though the Twitter account categorizes itself as "Behind The Scenes Pics That Look Like Shitposts," the strange, funny, and sometimes cursed images go a little farther than that. Many of them offer a fascinating look at some of the sillier and technical sides of filmmaking over the past few decades. If we've piqued your interest with this time capsule in a gallery, there are many more pics being posted daily on the @behindpics. It's worth a follow if only for all the green screen hilarity they share.

It's said that you learn something new every day. Well, today we learned that Nicolas Cage was slated to star in a Tim Burton-helmed Superman film. The movie, titled Superman Lives sounded like the breath of fresh air that the franchise needed. But due to production company drama, the plug was ultimately pulled. These costume tests from 1997, however, give us a taste of the awesomeness that might have been.

Cringey 'Joker' Tweet Inspires Hilarious Ridicule And Parodies

It already feels like we've experienced an eternity of Joker memes, but the internet isn't done with the film yet. The latest Joker-related meme stems from a very cringey and off-base tweet about the film. The tweet came from @__greys, who sent out an image of Joaquin Phoenix's Joker paired with one of Heath Ledger's. In both images, the villains are pictured in a car - and this was enough for Kevin to include the critical caption "for those who didn't catch the reference". Twitter users started mocking him pretty immediately for his "analytical" take, even making parodies featuring other movie characters in cars to mock the logic behind the tweet. We feel kinda bad for @__greys, but these tweets are too good not to share.

'This Shot Is Brilliant' Has Evolved From Corny Game Of Thrones Tweet To Full-Fledged Meme

Twitter certainly had a lot to say about the series finale of Game Of Thrones - but there's one tweet that seems to have made a huge impression on the social media site. Jonathan Hill of Santa Clarita tweeted a video of Drogon behind Daenerys making it appear that she has the wings of a dragon. The text reads: "This shot is brilliant and should be shown in any film study class #GameofThrones." Hill's tweet was immediately mocked by film nerds, and it ended up morphing into a very entertaining copypasta. Twitter users began subbing the shot of Daenerys Targaryen with shots from cult classics and arguably inane works of film. It's an incredibly versatile meme, and a whole lot of fun.

Funny meme about Game of Thrones finale, "This shot is brilliant and should be used in any film studies class." "This shot is beautiful and should be used in any film studies." Funny meme about filmmaking, filmmaking memes.

Honest Movie Posters Are Back In Time For Oscars Season

2018 was a damn good year for movies. There was The Favourite, zany fish-eyed English Baroque rollercoaster from Yorgos Lanthimos. Roma, a poignant love letter to Mexico City, managed to steal hearts internationally. Lady Gaga and Bradley Cooper inexplicably paired up for what ended up being our favorite iteration of A Star Is Born yet. Despite our immense love for these acclaimed films, we also enjoy making fun of sh*t. And The Shiznit happens to do that very well.

Every year the entertainment site posts "honest posters" for Oscar nominees. They're beautifully done and funny to boot. We've included some of this year's posters and some all-time favorites. If you like what you see, check out the rest here and consider donating to their Patreon.

Funny honest movie posters.
