We're gonna be real with you, it feels a little morbid to celebrate the Earth in the midst of ecological disaster and global pandemic—it would sort of be like singing happy birthday to someone while you throw garbage at them. That said, we all depend on this beautiful planet of ours and pessimism ain't gonna get us anywhere. The effect our individual actions have on the environment pale in comparison to the carbon footprint of major industries, but there's no harm in using this day to meditate on how we can be better, more compassionate participants of the ecosystem in our everyday lives. Today we plan to use as little energy as possible by doing absolutely nothing all day but look at memes, starting with this collection of dank ecological content. It ain't much but it's honest work. 

Everyone's got 20/20 hindsight, but many are blind when it comes to predicting outcomes and sharing takes that stand the test of time. It's not always fun to look into the past, especially when you're the one with the embarrassingly wrong analysis immortalized forever on subs like r/agedlikemilk. The fires in Australia have been devastating to human lives, countless species of animals, and the environment at large - so much so that the smoke from the fires is predicted to be seen around the world. Elon Musk just donated $1 million worth of trees to YouTuber MrBeast's fundraiser, which aims to raise $20 million toward climate change efforts. The campaign, called #TeamTrees, is a partnership with the Arbor Day Foundation. Musk, who renamed himself "Treelon" on Twitter, currently holds the record for biggest donation, followed by the likes of MrBeast, Jeffree Star, and...the entire nation of Ukraine.

In news that probably comes as a surprise to virtually no one, the state of California is once again on fire. The exact cause of the fires is not known for certain, but it's heavily suspected that PG&E, provider of natural gas and electricity to much of California, is behind it. PG&E has since implemented planned power outages in order to divert the fires from spreading further. Ironic, isn't it?
