It's no surprise that a new Joker meme format would pop up after the film won big at this years Oscars. It had already won our award for most meme-able movie of the year. This format comes from the scene in which Joaquin Phoenix's Joker screams "You get what you fucking deserve" at Murray (Robert De Niro) and promptly shoots him in the head. It's mostly being used to meme moments of amusing karmic justice. We've included our favorites, but you can see more and read about the format over at Know Your Meme.
Korean filmmaker Bong Joon-ho made history on Sunday when his film Parasite won both the Oscars for Best Picture and Best Foreign Language film. The film has been hailed as satirical genius - a deft and stunning criticism of capitalism. While the irony of the Parasite winning these accolades in a room of insanely wealthy people is entertaining, the memes have been even more thrilling. The director was photographed making his statues kiss after his big wins, and the image very quickly morphed into the evening's best meme. Here are some of our favorites.
Billie Eilish is probably the biggest pop star in the world right now, which makes her a prime target for meme-ing. The internet worked its magic on an image of Eilish reacting to Maya Rudolph and Kristen Wiig singing a song onstage at the Academy Awards on Sunday.

While the the 2019 Oscars were exceedingly memeable, the most meme-worthy award definitely goes to Lady Gaga and Bradley Cooper. Their performance of A Star Is Born's "Shallow" was almost uncomfortably intimate, and proceeded to spawn a wealth of suspicious and tea-loving tweets about the duo's sexual tension. Memes quickly followed, ranging from sexual in nature to celebrations of our banal Oscarless lives. While these are some of the funniest memes we could find, we're willing to bet that Gaga and Cooper will be gracing Reddit, Twitter, and Instagram for the entire week. We're not complaining.
2018 was a damn good year for movies. There was The Favourite, zany fish-eyed English Baroque rollercoaster from Yorgos Lanthimos. Roma, a poignant love letter to Mexico City, managed to steal hearts internationally. Lady Gaga and Bradley Cooper inexplicably paired up for what ended up being our favorite iteration of A Star Is Born yet. Despite our immense love for these acclaimed films, we also enjoy making fun of sh*t. And The Shiznit happens to do that very well.

As we've mentioned, there was a big, huge, embarrassing mess up at the Oscars last night, when Warren Beaty read the wrong card for Best Picture, accidentally giving Moonlight's Academy Award to La La Land.
While this is bad for La La Land, it's great for the internet, which exploded with memes about the mess up. Check it out:
