We all know that hindsight is 20/20. That definitely applies to the year 2020, too. But today we're talking about a special kind of hindsight and regret. We've all seen that tweet from Hillary Clinton where she says "Happy birthday to this future President." Well, things didn't really go as planned. Today we're here to cover some of the regretful and poorly aged posts that you may not have seen plastered over the internet. You know, posts regarding the horrendous winter storm that struck America's heartland this week. Or, perhaps, posts that deal with some woefully ignorant Bitcoin owners who sold themselves short years ago.

Most of these regrettable situations and posts are pretty harmless. But they're a great reminder that you really need to try to think to the future before getting your hopes up - or your hopes lost. One thing's for sure, it always helps to laugh through the pain. 

Getting that "too many users" message on Netflix is always frustrating. It's even more frustrating when you have to track down all the people you've given that damn password to. Is it your ex streaming anime trash? Your cousin? Your mom's friend Stella who has a crush on Anthony Bourdain (RIP?). The list is daunting. When this woman started receiving emails that account was being accessed, she figured it had to be her ex. She was wrong. 

After close inspection, our hero discovered that the culprits were in Lahore, Pakistan. To add insult to injury, there were too many people using her account for her to stream her own media. So she changed her password. After making the liberating change, one of the Pakistani men who had been using her account actually reached out in the hopes of acquiring her new one. 

Fat. Chance.

If you're getting used to seeing friends, going to the office, or dining out, don't get too comfortable. The United States is grappling with some record highs in new cases and the threat of some seriously contagious new strain variants. To remind us of what may be in store if people don't take proper precautions, we've put together this time capsule of memes from 2020, when things were especially bleak. Let's try not to press rewind, y'all. 

We love an easily exploitable meme format, and September's brought us some gems in that department. Our new favorite super-versatile meme has got to be 'Sure Grandma, Let's Get You To Bed'. The trend started on Twitter, but is popping up all over Instagram and Reddit- probably because it can be used in reference to just about everything. Most examples feature the "Grandma" character saying something (like "Netflix used to come in the mail") that sounds extremely hard to believe. The granddaughter character brushes the information off as nonsense, and suggests Grandma needs to rest her addled mind. We've put together some of our favorite examples of the meme, but we're willing to bet you'll find a lot more flying around the meme universe. 

Netflix's The Crown premiered its highly anticipated fourth season on Sunday, and fans have been gushing over both Olivia Colman's performance as Queen Elizabeth II, and the introduction of Princess Diana (bravely played by Emma Corrin).  But the biggest "win" of all has probably been the intensely relatable (and self-deprecating) memes that are being made from a clip of Corrin's Diana going a little too out of her way to look polite and interested. The silly look is being used to describe common situations (think Zoom calls or ordering food at a restaurant) as well as some more specific formative LGBT moments. Whatever the topic, these are easily the best Twitter memes we've seen in a long time - and a happy break from the politics. Happy scrolling.

It's nearly impossible to avoid mentions of Netflix' Emily In Paris as of late. The series was released on October 2, and pretty much everyone on Twitter has an opinion about the show. The series follows Emily Cooper, an American who's just relocated to Paris for a job with a French marketing company. Emily, who is played by Lily Collins, is pretty, perky, and is also a terrible (and terribly on-point) caricature of the way Americans behave in foreign countries. 

Emily routinely rejects French culture, scoffing at everything from cliche French smoking habits to simply dining out. This pompous attitude has been widely criticized in the media, for good reason. Instead of trying to accept the ways of her new city, she seems to turn her nose up at it, consistently mocking customs that are really pretty benign.

This superior attitude is marvelously called out by a brilliant new Instagram account, @emilyinparasite. The page mixes cringey images of Emily Cooper with stills from Bong Joon-ho's Parasite. The film, a social satire that highlights class discrimination, is a perfect foil for Cooper's character. The photoshopped images make for some truly unhinged commentary. We've included their latest spicy posts, but we implore you to follow for more brilliant content.

Neflix's The Umbrella Academy, now on its second season, has inspired quite a few excellent memes. The show, which is inspired by the comic book series of the same name, features an awesome cast (Ellen Page!) and has been garnering excellent reviews for both its seasons. The warm reception extends to avid tv-watchers, who are putting their own spin on the show by creating memes such as 'Vanya and Five Drive By Each Other.' But the fund doesn't stop with image macros. Tumblr user heinouspurification (whom we can no longer seem to track down) pleasantly surprised us today with an entertaining post. Its purpose? To cast the UA cast as weird stock photos. And oh, it does not disappoint.
