Cats are alright, and birds are cool too, but we think that dogs win the award for the best type of pet. The world can never have too many dogs, and that's why we feel that it's necessary to bring you these dog memes. It's for your own personal benefit that you scroll down.

And think of it this way: in case you hate taking your dog to the vet: a little bit of nervousness on their part is definitely worth the care your furry pal is getting in the long term!

Dogs are the best pets and if you disagree then GTFO. Jk! Cats are cool and lizards are...interesting, but when it comes to loyalty and companionship, dogs are the indisputable winners here. We do hope that looking at these memes will help convince you that dogs really are man's best friend.

We've been fans of Martin Rosner's Hot Paper Comics since we first stumbled upon them on Reddit. While we love all of his work, this series that reverses the roles of dogs and humans is our favorite yet. Despite the canine-focus, this is a comic that anyone will appreciate. Well, maybe until the last, tearjerker of a panel. Goddamn.

Let's face it, pets are the best kind of children.
