Overvalued and Overpaid Jobs That Are Totally Useless

Doesn't it seem like some of the hardest, most labor-intensive, (and often most important) jobs in the world pay the worst while some of the most useless ones somehow pay the best? Coincidence? I'm not so sure. Lots of redditors got together on good ol' r/AskReddit to make a comprehensive list of all the most overpaid and overvalued jobs that exist today. My question is: where can I find these “ jobs ” and how do I sign up?

A Reddit thread about a person who found out they're getting let go and want to make the process as awkward as possible for their boss.

Employee Finds Out They're About to Be Laid Off, Finds Best Ways To Make Their Employer Uncomfortable

There's nothing worse than getting laid off . Just kidding, there is something objectively worse than that: finding out you're getting laid off from an outside source days before it happens. Being terminated without pay is possibly worse than getting let go, but getting let go always feels somewhat slimy, especially when your department is seemingly cut for no reason. Getting laid off is like saying, “we'll give you a little unemployment as a treat.” It's seemingly innocuous, but it's just anot…

Boss Accuses Employee of 'Quiet Quitting' Because He Only Works 40 Hours a Week

“Quiet quitting” is one of those phrases that's wiggled into our vernacular seemingly overnight. Initially, quiet quitting was when employees would slack off at their jobs, essentially waiting to get fired. S

Frustrating Thread Reveals That Boomers Are Still Disgracefully Out of Touch

We're sad to report that the boomers still don't understand that things have changed in the past fifty years. It's as if nothing has happened outside of their lived experiences. “I made $10 an hour in 1970 and bought my own house by the time I was 30! If I did it, so can you.” You can try and explain to grandpa the concept of housing price inflation, or that $10 in 1970 is equivalent in purchasing power to about $77 today (which would be an annual salary of $148,379), but there's a strong chanc…

Story about a worker who gets fired for saying no to boss when asked to come in for a shift he wasn't scheduled for

Employee Fired For Refusing to Work When He Wasn't Scheduled

One of the best parts about being a salaried employee is that you don't get called in for random shifts on the weekend. At least I don't, but y'all stay safe out there. There's nothing worse than preparing for a nice long day of doing nothing than receiving a call from your manager. When I worked at a dog bakery, I was always the person saying “yes” to picking up this one girls shifts. If it sounds like I was being a pushover, it's because I was a pushover. For me, it was hard to leave money on…

Frustrated Workers Discuss The Dismal State of Paid Time Off in America

We spend the majority of our lives working and rarely get time off. Once the period of our life where we get summer vacation is over, the era of having long stretches of carefree time with little to no responsibilities rarely happens again. There's something so valuable about having time to rest and relax without having the pressure to be “productive” constantly hanging over our head

Workers Share Helpful Tactics For Staying Calm With Aggressive Customers

Working retail is not a fun gig. In fact, most customer-facing positions are actually incredibly challenging. It's not just about making people happy. It's about managing the people who aren't happy - and that includes people who, based on their personalities and how they treat others, will probably never be happy. While my favorite job was working at a fish market in Cape Cod, the fun and food also came with having to help entitled rich people on vacation with their white-clad families. It was…

'Company got caught lowballing me': Director accidentally CCs applicant on shady post-interview email

Interviewing for jobs can be such a thankless experience. In this day and age, it's almost guaranteed that hundreds of people are applying for the same gig that you are - and if you know anything about statistics and probability, the odds are (generally) not in your favor. Unless you're a nepotism baby, of course. But for the rest of us, it's hard knowing you might not be a company's top pick, or even their third, for that matter. But the last thing you want is to actually witness a conversatio…

Boss Throws Temper Tantrum When Worker Quits, Royally Screws Himself Over

Firing an employee right after they hand in their two weeks notice is probably the least professional thing a boss can do in that situation, and that's exactly what happened to redditor u/Brilliant-Parking359, whose boss ended up screwing himself over by firing his employee right after they quit. u/Brilliant-Parking359 still had the company truck in their possession, and bossman expected OP to drive three hours to deliver the truck even after he'd told OP to ‘f*** off.’ Needless to say, OP did…
