Nostalgia works in interesting ways. Typically, we see media and culture going through the 20-year nostalgia cycle , where iconography and media from 20 years ago come back into style. We saw it in the 90s with shows like That 70s Show, and we saw it in the 70s with movies like Grease . We're even seeing it now with early 2000s fashion coming back for Gen Z. What does it truly mean to be a 90s kid? I'd say there are two competing definitions that will likely always be at odds with each other. The first “90s kids” are the people who truly spent a bulk of their childhood in that decade; essentially, people born in the 80s. The other group of 90s kids are those born in the 1990s. I am just barely in that latter group of 90s kids, being born in the literal last year of the 1990s.

Ah, simpler times.
