McDonald's Asked People to Invent Their Own Burgers Because Apparently They've Never Been on the Internet Before

A major corporation runs a campaign to let people on the internet be a little creative with their brand and said campaign fails spectacularly because people are awful. Sound familiar? It's a tale as old as time. Or at least as old as Wifi. This time the social media screw up is burger themed, YUM!

The Internet Showed Their Sympathy With Memes When Only One of Pawpaw's Grandkids Came Over for Burgers

Twitter user @kalssseyharmon shared her lonely cookout with her Grandfather, lovingly dubbed "Pawpaw" on Twitter. The internet was suddenly reminded to call their own grandparents so, instead they Tweeted about how sad this Pawpaw situation made them. After all, no one should have to cook 12 burgers just to have one person show up.

Burger King wants to "end the beef" between themselves and McDonald's (for just one day, at one special location) in honor of the International Day of Peace. Because, you know, nothing says peace like a frankenburger. Ah, capitalism. Here's their proposal:

In honor of Peace Day, September 21st, Burger King is inviting McDonald's to team up to create the McWhopper — a burger built for world peace. If they say yes, we’ll mark this ‘burger wars” ceasefire with a one day pop-up McWhopper shop in Atlanta on Peace Day, halfway between our two headquarters.


Would you eat a McWhopper in the name of peace?

Update: Looks like you won't have to eat one, because McDonald's has declined Burger King's offer with a Facebook post that can only be described as a sick burn:
