And we quote from Kitase himself

"It will essentially be a full-scale game for each part of the multi-part series. In XIII, each installment told the story from a different angle. It was kind of like approaching an unknown territory in a sense."

So, essentially a seven hour-long cutscene accompanied by a three and a half hour long hallway. What's not to love? We've got guys like Ryan Melton laying down their opinions on the matter:

You've gotta' love how they incorporate Florence and the Machine's latest track, 'Stand By Me' into the background. Anyone else out there havin flashbacks to when they used Leona Lewis' "My Hands" for the Final Fantasy XIII trailer/commercial?

On the potentially more critical end of the spectrum, I can't help but ask what I imagine plenty of you out there are wondering along with myself: why the hell post what could've completely taken the video game announcement trailer world by storm in potato quality?

Ah well. The game itself is worthy of all the hype it's getting, like from this fan:

Woah man, woah indeed. If your curiosity's particularly aroused, definitely check out this footage from a live stream of the Final Fantasy XV demo:

Seriously this is flat-out epic. Sounds like we're set have access to this gold come September 30, 2016; and time couldn't pass sooner. Body is ready. The Sept. 30th release date makes total sense, considering we now know Star Ocean 5 drops June 28th (also same day as Zero Time Dilemma), and with Deux Ex set for August, that ultimately works to split up S-E's release schedule as efficiently as possible.

Oh, and in closing a new demo arrives today, in which you follow the young Noctis. So, that's epic. What a day indeed.
final fantasy lightning louis vuitton interview

Final Fantasy's Lightning is a model for Louis Vuitton, which is one thing, but now there's an interview with a totally fictional character about her experience as a brand ambassador, and it doesn't make any sense. Here's a particularly interesting selection:

What does it feel like to become a Louis Vuitton ambassador?

My clothes were nothing more than armor to stay alive; “dressing up” was a concept I’ve never had. Perhaps that makes me an unseemly choice as ambassador. But this experience has opened my eyes. Fashion isn’t something you’re taught or given, it comes from your own taste and your own choices. It displays the essence of who you are to the people around you.

It makes me feel excited, a feeling similar to when I venture to unknown lands. It is a thrill that I, who has faced my share of danger, have never experienced before. LV is a new adventure―a new fantasy―that I will enjoy from the bottom of my heart.

What are your upcoming projects?

I’m currently winding down after a long journey. My days are peaceful; it’s what I’ve always dreamed of. I hope these days last a long time.

But I’m always looking to push myself, to better myself. Sometimes I get the urge to put my life on the line again and test my limits.

One day, not so far in the future, I will be out there again, in a world of strife. But I won’t be the same person I was before. I will return to my origins, like a Mobius strip, but it’ll be a new me, one who has evolved.

I look forward to the day we meet again.

Who needs a real life model when you've got Lightning wearing your clothes?

Reality and fantasy become one : lightning a genuine heroine in the new @louisvuitton series 4 ad campaign

A video posted by 🆖 (@nicolasghesquiere) on

Iconic fashion brand Louis Vuitton has tapped the pink haired heroine as the face of their Spring-Summer 2016 collection. Lightning has appeared before in ads for Prada with the rest of the XIII cast, but this is the first time she'll be headlining a campaign on her own.

video games final fantasy vii remake episodic reasoning

If you haven't already heard, the upcoming HD remake of Final Fantasy VII is going to be delivered in episodes, and the reasoning behind it makes a fair amount of sense.

According to game director Yoshinori Kitase,

The biggest reason why we haven’t done a remake until now is because it’s a massive undertaking to reconstruct FINAL FANTASY VII from the ground up with the current technology. Producing a proper HD remake of FINAL FANTASY VII that maintains the same feeling of density of the original would result in a volume of content that couldn’t possibly fit into one instalment.

By moving to an episodic model, the game is able to capture the depth and breadth of the original while exploring new things the first version wasn't able to:

With FINAL FANTASY VII REMAKE, we have the opportunity to go beyond the story, world and experience of FINAL FANTASY VII in ways we’ve always dreamed of - from the depths of Midgar to the skies above the Planet. The multi-part format enables us to expand the original story and turn it into an epic experience for fans and new gamers alike.

How do you feel about the choice to make FFVII episodic?

The Buster Sword is firmly lodged in a mountain like it's freakin Excalibur, but if you're falling through the air or running up one particular random mountain-side, you might run into a Final Fantasy Buster Sword on your Just Cause 3 adventures. You can also find Thor's hammer, Mjolnir, in a crater. Spoiler alert: you're not worthy enough to wield it.
