Tenants Bemoan the Perils of Renting From Slumlords

Unless you're filthy rich or still live with your parents, chances are you've experienced the Apartment From Hell at some point in your adult life. All things being relative, a nightmarish flat can mean different things to different people. For some it means having a roommate who mistakes the kitchen for the bathroom every time they get trashed. For others it means renting from an absolute slumlord who thinks a hole in the middle of the living room floor is just 'normal wear and tear.' @isabeatty is one unfortunate tenant who shared an email she sent to her landlord about the 'ceiling falling down.' The tweet got an alarming response from thousands of other people who also had horror stories about shoddy construction and collapsing ceilings. It's good to have a sense of humor about these things to keep yourself sane, but damn, real estate developers and landlords better get it together—people are going to get hurt!

New York City is definitely 'weird living situations' capital of the world, but this is next level. TikTokker @samanthartsoe felt a perplexing draft coming from her bathroom mirror and decided to investigate while documenting the exploration in a series of TikTok videos. What she found was pretty insane—a huge hold in the wall that her mirror had been concealing for who knows how long. And behind the wall? An entire apartment. At the end of the video, @samanthartsoe says she'll be giving her landlord a call and hopefully she'll update us in another TikTok video, because we'd really like to hear their explanation for this one.
