We're all familiar with the story of Mulan from the classic '90s Disney movie, but what you probably didn't know is the lesser-known tale of Captain Li Shang questioning his sexuality. Being the '90s and all, people weren't as comfortable talking about different sexual orientations as we are now, but the story is finally coming out of the closet! (sorry.)

For the past few years, nearly every brand has been quick to incorporate the Pride flag into its logo as soon as June 1st rolls around, and then just as quickly abandon it once we hit July. 

One could probably make the argument that many companies only show their support for Pride because it's good for business and not necessarily because they care about the LGBTQ community, and that's exactly what these memes are making fun of!

The internet bore witness to some serious emoji controversy this week over an emoji that doesn't actually exist. Twitter user @mioog tweeted a crossed out pride flag, later claiming that he had found it in Apple's code. The tweet inspired more tweets, some claiming it was an Apple creation, and others making jokes that were pro-LGBT. As can be expected, there were also many, many memes. It was soon revealed on Reddit that the emoji is actually a combination of unicode characters, and not, in fact, a sinister homophobic emoji of Apple's creation. This comes as a relief, and allows us to enjoy some of the dumb memes that have come out of this internet debacle.

Netflix's Queer Eye reboot has achieved serious cult status. It's wholesome, funny, and downright tear-inducing goodness. This new Twitter meme takes the beloved show and reimagines it in absurd, bizarre, and incredibly specific ways. Even Netflix itself decided to get in on the joke. We're definitely here for it.

It's probably safe to say that most parents will be supportive of their kids through most of their life decisions and experiences. Unfortunately, some parents are just straight up trash who disown their children because of their incredibly narrow world views. In an unexpected move, Donald Trump  announced on Twitter that transgender Americans would be banned from military service. The President claims that the motivation behind the move was fiscal - that the cost of caring for transgender soldiers is a financial burden, but netizens, journalists and politicians were all quick to challenge this notion. The outrage at Trump's tweet was heard (read) far and wide - and even inspired some memes.
