Today I learned that the Appalachian Mountains are 480 million years old! That's about 100 million years before animals walked on land, which explains why if you were to go digging around the Appalachian trail, you would only find the fossils of weird ancient ocean creatures, like trilobites. @AlexPetrovnia gave a thorough and fascinating history lesson on the Appalachian mountains via Twitter and our minds couldn't be more blown. Confession: When I go hiking I imagine that my journey is being narrated by David Attenborough. Every time I see an animal, I hear his sweet and soothing voice narrating my observations. Could be a squirrel. Could be a gator. Pretending as though one is having an immersive Planet Earth experience might be corny but it's fun as hell. While we can't transport anyone to the wilds of the Galapagos or the Serengeti, we can offer up some memes that deal with the many plants, animals, and even rocks of the natural world. With so much of us cooped up in our homes, they're a nice reminder of the wonders that exist on our rapidly disintegrating planet. 

These stock images are bad, but they kinda make you wish that your job was actually as cool as what they depict.
