Marvel Dropped The First Trailer For 'Eternals' & Twitter's Wondering Where They've Been This Whole Time

After a couple months of exciting Phase 4 teasers (Black Widow, Loki), Marvel has dropped another exciting full-length trailer that delivers an epic sneak peek at November's Eternals. Until now, this action film was known by us as "the movie that made Kumail Nanjiani repulsively jacked." Thanks to the trailer, we now know that it's also got a star-studded cast, was directed by Nomadland's Chloé Zhao, and is also the movie that made Kumail Nanjiani horrifically and disgustingly jacked.

Jokes aside, the trailer has a lot to offer. We see that the Eternals have been around for thousands of years, and have helped humanity develop life-altering technologies through teaching, but never interfering. You know, until now. The footage lines up well with the official synopsis:

"Marvel Studios' "Eternals" welcomes an exciting new team of Super Heroes to the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The epic story, spanning thousands of years, features a group of immortal heroes forced out of the shadows to reunite against mankind's oldest enemy, The Deviants. The outstanding ensemble cast includes Richard Madden as the all-powerful Ikaris, Gemma Chan as humankind-loving Sersi, Kumail Nanjiani as cosmic-powered Kingo, Lauren Ridloff as the super-fast Makkari, Brian Tyree Henry as the intelligent inventor Phastos, Salma Hayek as the wise and spiritual leader Ajak, Lia McHugh as the eternally young, old-soul Sprite, Don Lee as the powerful Gilgamesh, Barry Keoghan as aloof loner Druig, and Angelina Jolie as the fierce warrior Thena. Kit Harington plays Dane Whitman."

Game of Thrones fans will celebrate the appearance of the brothers Stark (Richard Madden and Kit Harington) as the Eternal Ikaris and Dane Whitman (who later becomes the Black Knight) respectively. Angelina Jolie stuns as the white-haired Thena. We're probably most excited to see Korean actor Don Lee as Gilgamesh. The burly performer kicked some serious ass in Train to Busan, so we expect to see a lot more of that in an action-packed Marvel movie.

Many Twitter users have been expressing their delight at this gorgeous first look, but there seems to be a pretty common thread to many of the reaction memes: people want to know what the hell the Eternals have been doing this whole time. The trailer makes it really clear that the group of immortals has been watching sh*t go down on Earth for, like, ever. Even when disasters like THANOS (an immortal himself) happened. We've really been enjoying the reactions that make fun of their inaction, but we're pretty sure their logic will be revealed in November. Until then? We're gonna sit back, relax, and enjoy the memes.

Kumail Nanjiani's Swoleness Inspires Twitter Memes & Debates

Remember back in 2019 when Kumail Nanjiani shared that super ripped photo of himself on Instagram? Well it seems like a lot of people on Twitter don't. The Silicon Valley star had been getting swole for Marvel's Eternals, and his dramatic transformation was talked about for what felt like years. It shouldn't be news that stars get in shape for Marvel movies, but after Nanjiani shared a photo from his holiday in quarantine, people on Twitter decided it was time to do what they do best: debate his physical appearance.

The photo in question features Nanjiani in front of a plate of food, jaw looking exceptionally cut - to the point where Twitter users began accusing the actor of using steroids. Most of the jokes were absurd and in good fun, but the mockery struck other users as a tad racist. We don't see people scrutinizing Chris Pratt's transformation from flabby Andy from Parks and Recreation to jacked Starlord, do we? While we do think the attacks might be a little unfair, we're really just here for the jokes. If anything, we're jealous of Nanjiani's diesel bod. And more than that? We're psyched for Eternals.

Twitter Reacts To Buff Kumail Nanjiani

Kumail Nanjiani broke the internet today when he shared photos of his recent transformation into Kingo, a character from Marvel's upcoming Eternals movie. The funnyman wrote that he had been training rigorously for a year to make his thirst-inspiring shirtless photos a reality, and judging by most reactions to the images, it's more than paid of. People on Twitter are a righteous mix of shocked, turned on, disgusted, and grumbly over the actor's proud post. And of course there are some top notch jokes at Nanjiani's expense. We don't feel bad laughing because, um, look at the dude.
