If you're looking to indulge in some clever tweets without having to enter the hellhole that is Twitter these days, you've come to the right place. While we can't promise that these tweets avoid politics altogether, they do boast a lot of the fun that seems to be missing from the site lately. From silly anecdotes to relatable and self-deprecating humor, we're willing to bet there's something in this gallery for everyone.
Yup, we are still waiting for those damn election results to come in so we can finally go back to being miserable for normal, everyday reasons. As expected, there's been a lot of tension, wild accusations, and some unhelpful 'projections' from the mainstream media, but it's good to remember that everything is a little bit different during a global pandemic. And we can't be too hard on states like Nevada and Georgia for having to count way more votes than they're used to. So far, total votes this year doubled since 2016 and in some states early voting turnout was more than six times what it was four years ago. That's a lot of counting. So while we wait a little longer to find out the fate of the nation, let's enjoy some spicy election memes.
Where are we? What day is it? Last night felt more like an entire week. America is still trapped in the dark void of election purgatory as votes continue to get counted in key states. It's been interesting to say the least. Despite record voter turnout numbers, the larger part of last night looked like a horse race between the two conspicuously unpopular candidates. As expected, Twitter has done a pretty good job of expressing its jaded feelings and exasperation for the whole process through glorious memes. We've picked out some of the funniest memes and tweets from last night.
Well, well, well. We've actually made it to the big day. You know what I'm talking about...yes, it's election day. A whole lot of crazy shit has happened since Trump waddled into office in 2016, and we've got the memes to prove it. We thought it might be fun to look back on the last four years through the glorious lens of hilarious memes and just laugh and laugh. What does the future hold for us? It's hard to say, but there's one thing we know for certain. There will be memes.
Who won the Vice Presidential debate last night? Well, at first it was hard to tell. Everything seemed to be going as expected—some wearisome interruptions, disregard for the moderator, a vague haze of bad vibes... And then it happened. About an hour into the debate, a fly landed on Mike Pence's head and lingered there for exactly two minutes and three seconds. Did the internet lose its damn mind? You bet it did. And a lot can happen in just two minutes—hundreds (yes, hundreds) of 'Pence fly'-themed Twitter accounts sprouted into existence, '#fly' instantly soared to Twitter's number one trending topic, a fly face filter appeared on Snapchat, and then of course, there were memes.
With impressive haste, the internet gave us a mountain of memes, tweets, videos, and think-pieces to wake up to. Don't worry, we've narrowed the buzz down to a handful of highlights so that your brain doesn't fly out of your head.
Can 2020 get any weirder? Clearly, the answer is continuously yes. Kanye West announced via Twitter on the Fourth of July that he is running for president of the United States in this year's election. While everyone's favorite cringey billionaire memelord Elon Musk has endorsed Yeezy, the announcement has been met with a whole boatload of criticism from pretty much everyone else on the internet. Some are even saying that the move is a ploy to take black voters away from Biden, ultimately giving Trump a better chance of winning. Regardless of where you stand on the issue, we're pretty sure you'll thoroughly enjoy these memes and tweets.
All we have left to say is, at this point absolutely nothing surprises us about 2020.
Last night Americans tuned in to watch the audience-free live democratic debate between remaining candidates Joe Biden and Bernie Sanders. Topics of discussion included the Green New Deal, Donald Trump, and of course, the COVID-19 pandemic. You can watch the debate here to decide for yourself who won, and click here for more political memes!
Warning: If you're sick and tired of reading or hearing about the Democratic primaries, this post ain't for you. Since Bernie Sanders destroyed the Nevada caucus, the media seems to be freaking out. People from both parties are freaking out. And while we're starting to feel a bit politically fatigued, we've still got the memes to bring some entertaining edge to this political nightmare. This mix of memes, while mostly devoted to Sanders (the Democratic front runner) should be able to satisfy any democrat with a taste for memes.
About six months ago, a photo of Bernie and Jane Sanders popped up on r/SandersForPresident. The image depicts the couple walking into famed discount clothing store Ross Dress for Less. The relatable photo made a viral appearance on Twitter this weekend after Josh Androsky shared it to the social media site. Users quickly began meme-ing the image and contributing some quality one liners to the thread - there's even a shop of the twosome entering a Hot Topic instead of Ross. As candid candidate photos go, this one takes the cake. Everybody loves a bargain. We've put together some of the best reactions to the photo in this gallery, but you can take in more gold right here.
Just when we thought that election takes couldn't get any more cringey, Twitter user @rapscallison has raised the bar. Yesterday she nearly broke our timeline when she started a thread designating the remaining democratic candidates as Broadway musicals. While the cringe is kinda real, this will probably appeal to those of you who both follow politics and love musicals. And in our heart of hearts, we have to admit that OP's choices are pretty scary accurate.
Last night's democratic debate in Nevada got pretty damn spicy to say the least. So much so that many are calling it the most entertaining debate of the election cycle so far. Pete spoke Spanish, Warren (and every other candidate, for that matter) came out swinging against Bloomberg, and many, many other things that warranted a monumental cringe fest.
So please enjoy the following roast-y memes from the night and you can watch a more in-depth recap of it here!
