Revolting Food Pics Gordon Ramsay Would Balk At

Gordon Ramsay's theatrics sometimes make him seem like a dick. But he really just wants the best for people. It's tough love, and a lot of it goes after sus food served by people on any of his shows. Our personal favorite, Kitchen Nightmares, is chock full of his special brand of foul-mouthed exasperation. Thanks to the horrors of the internet, we've just dug up some food pics that would make him go from zero to a hundred. Heinous cookies. Aspic abominations. And, of course, some culinary combinations that have no place anywhere but hell.

A Big Buffet of Food Memes Both Dank & Dumb

Food. We need it to sustain our thankless existence on planet Earth. But somehow, the human race has managed to turn this necessity into a luxury status symbol. There are "foodies" in every restaurant, frantically trying to get a good shot of their Instagrammable acai bowls or salads so they can share with their friends. To prove that they eat clean or pretty. We think that shit is dumb as hell. We prefer to chow down with relish and urgency instead of taking photos while the food we're supposed to eat gets cold. This attitude is definitely reflected in this batch of memes. It's time to stop taking this part of culture so seriously, and just enjoy ourselves. And our meals. The same way we enjoy the weird memes they inspire.

Cursed & Cringe Food Parodies That Thankfully Aren't Real

Photoshopped product packages have been making the rounds on the meme scene for at least five years. The most popular instances of this phenomenon take the form of Hot Pockets and Pop Tarts packaging. Memers doctor the packages to boast appetizing flavors such as "dryer lint" and "filthy ashtray" - the latter of which is a bit too familiar to feel fake. While these culinary creations won't be winning any James Beard awards, they do succeed at both making us cringe and helping us lose our appetites. And at the risk of sounding normie - we still have a lot of quarantine weight to shed before we feel totally comfortable at the beach. We'll take all the help we can get.

Angry Italians Call Out Offensive Attempts At Their Cuisine

Many food publications have come under fire recently for either completely bastardizing a culture's cuisine, or neglecting to correctly credit a dish's influence. While we've enjoyed all the drama surrounding Bon Appetit's various failings, the latest culprit of food crimes is none other than The New York Times.

The publication stoked the ire of readers back in 2018 when they referred to Yorkshire Pudding, an English supper special, as a dessert. Their latest misstep? Publishing a recipe for a dish called "Smoky Tomato Carbonara."

For those of you who may not be versed in Italian cuisine, they take their recipes - and methodologies - very, very seriously. Carbonara is a pasta dish (usually using Spaghetti) that combines guanciale (pork jowl), black pepper, pecorino cheese and egg to create a wonderfully rich and savory treat. Unfortunately, especially stateside, many home and professional chefs bastardize this preparation either by using substitutions such as bacon for guanciale, or, even worse, adding cream to the sauce. While the dish does have a creaminess to it, the decadence comes from the last step of the cooking process, when a mixture of raw egg is added to the cooked pasta while off the heat. It cooks into a creamy coating when done correctly. Adding cream or milk isn't just a cop out, to many Italians it's a sin.

If the addition of dairy or use of bacon is so offensive, it's no wonder this "smoky tomato" recipe has inspired such animosity. And Italians are not ones to mince words. One chef from Rome, the 'Carbonara King' Alessandro Pipero, told Corriere della Sera "It would be like putting salami in a cappuccino or mortadella in sushi. OK, fine, but then let's not call it sushi, similarly with this one – carbonara with tomato is not carbonara. It's something else." Other opponents chose to voice their disgust on Twitter - mostly in response to the tweet that was supposed to promote the controversial recipe. But the condemnation of bastardized Italian dishes on social media is nothing new. In fact, one of our favorite Twitter accounts is an impressive archive of heated, angry comments in response to images of ketchup-soiled pasta, or pizzas with pineapple on them. The account, Italians Mad At Food, has been pumping out the entertainment since 2015, and has amassed a pretty impressive following of 100k fans. If you're entertained by this kind of food criticism, you'll definitely enjoy the screenshots they so diligently upload. We've put together our favorites from the last month or so for your convenient enjoyment, but you can see more on Twitter as well as on their newer Instagram. The anger and scathing remarks really never get old.

Food Pics That Rival The Cringe Of That Countertop 'Spaghetti Trick'

The past 24 hours have been rife with mention of another heinous "food hack." We revealed our contempt for the engagement-baiting, and Eater even published their own expose. But Twitter's still talking about the Prego bullshit, and frankly we are a bit sick of it. There's a whole world of horrible food pics and videos to be enjoyed. Why don't they get the same amount of love? Is it because they're cursed? Is it because there's a chance that the cringe might actually be real instead of fabricated? Maybe it's both. Either way, these food crimes are certainly more worthy of shock and horror than the gleefully dumb foodhacks that we're seeing on TikTok.

Twitter Users Share The Most Heinous Food They Bought At Sports Events

While it cannot be denied that people don't go to sports matches for the food, this Twitter thread reveals that stadiums and arenas really need to do better in the food department. Twitter user @elliotwhu started the cringey hubbub when he posted a photo of a heinously long sausage, and asked his followers to share their own disappointing concession purchases. The responses include scarring turd-shaped mounds of meat and an impressive number of sad sausages. The thread offers up some gleeful culinary cringe, but we don't advice scrolling right before a meal. You're likely to lose your appetite.

Feast Your Eyes On The 'Nacho Hack' That's Horrifying The Internet

It has been two days since the Tampa Bay Buccaneers crushed the Kansas City Chiefs in Super Bowl LV. People have quieted down about The Weeknd's incredibly memeable halftime performance. Hopefully, all the buffalo wing sauce has exited your bowels quickly and painlessly. You'd think the Sunday Funday would be a distant memory. But, alas. The internet is still reeling from one influencer's mindboggling attempt at a "nacho hack," a scarring and arguably revolting gift that was meant to help people who are apparently struggling to serve the decadent food that is prevalent during the "Big Game."

On the same day as the Super Bowl, Facebook user Adley uploaded a video of an unknown woman showing viewers how to hack their own nachos. This is not something new for Adley's page - it's absolutely littered with clickbaity pranks and unnecessary products. But when this brunette opened a gigantic can of Velveeta and proceeded to pour it onto her pristine kitchen island, all bets were off.

After spreading the garishly orange cheese product around with her bare hands, our mystery woman adds the following: obviously cold beef, a can of black beans, wilted bagged lettuce, a container of sour cream, "guacamole," pickled jalapenos, and cold shredded cheese. The whole thing is a mess. You'd think that the display was over here, but you would also be dead wrong. It actually gets worse.

Following a liberal dusting of packaged taco seasoning, our "chef" proceed to use two putty knives (yes, the ones for spackle) to mix the unholy mix of ingredients into a vomit-esque blob. But what are nachos without the chips? While normally the dish consists of tortilla chips that are sensually layered with sumptuous ingredients, this woman has other plans. She dumps a bag of chips on top of the gross and gooey mass, and again uses her bare hands to crunch and then fold the chips into the cheesy mess. She then uses an ice cream scoop to fill a TORTILLA cone with the "nachos" and takes a hammy bite out of it.

If you're feeling shook by this "hack" you're definitely not alone. After @PettiBetti shared the cringey display on Twitter, the post quickly went viral. People absolutely love to tear down crimes against food, and this is a pretty heinous crime. While some people decried the "chef's" use of ingredients and the fact that she was serving NACHOS in a CONE, other people seemed to be more triggered by her lack of gloves. Obviously, some people took issue with both. We've put together some of the horrified responses, because they're hilarious. But if you for some reason want to subject yourself to the full dose of insanity, you can do so right here. Just try not to watch while you're eating.

Twitter's 'Gripping Food With Force' Is Cursed And Satisfying At The Same Time
