Gal Gadot To Play Cleopatra And Twitter Has Mixed Feelings

Deadline announced earlier today that Wonder Woman's Patty Jenkins and Gal Gadot would be teaming up again to bring a new epic about Cleopatra to life. While the news has been better-received than Gadot's "Imagine" debacle from the early days of quarantine, not everyone's happy about the choice. Gadot's an Israeli with very European heritage, and it seems that many Twitter users feel that casting does a Scarlett Johansson to an Egyptian queen. As some people are crying whitewashing, many have pointed out that by most credible accounts, the fierce ruler was actually of Greek heritage - though her mother's roots have been heavily debated. As with most Hollywood casting controversies, it seems that everyone has a very important opinion on the matter. You can enjoy (or scoff) at some of them below.

Marvel needs to hurry up and confirm someone for Doctor Strange. Every other day, there's another rumor about a different tall, dark and brooding actor set to play The Sorcerer Supreme. Today isn't any different.

Deadline is reporting that every girl's dream, Benny C, is already in talks with Marvel Studios. Kevin Feige's not so secret press conference is tomorrow, so there's hope that this'll finally be settled. Until then, we'll keep our skepticism:

Last week, it was all but confirmed that Michael B. Jordan would be joining the cast for The Fantastic Four reboot as The Human Torch. Now, he's been talking to Zack Snyder, director of Man of Steel, to cross the comic divide and join the DC universe as a 'recurring character' beginning with 2016's Man of Steel 2/Batman vs Superman.

This casting choice is a rumor at best, but the knowledge that Snyder is casting yet another recurring role has perked up some ears, and speculation is flying. Since Jordan is black, most are assuming that he'd be in talks for John Stewart's turn as Green Lantern, or the mechanized hero Cyborg. But this is the modern era, where actors of color are beginning to up for any superhero role, so younger roles, like Robin or The Flash could fit the bill as well. I guess we'll just have to wait until 2016.
