UK Restaurant Artfully Puts Lying Karen In Her Place

During more "normal times" we relish seeing restaurant owners call out unreasonable customers for bullshit reviews. Now, while restaurant workers and bartenders are risking their lives to cater to entitled people, we find that we relish the takedowns even more. Today we come to you with a classic Karen tale from Hucknall in the UK. This Karen, whose real name is Jo, took to Facebook to express her dismay at being kicked out of a restaurant after spending  £700 on a birthday celebration at the venue.

The restaurant quickly responds - correcting her lies (the party spent about a quarter of that) and calling her group out for their drunken and entitled behavior. It's an expert takedown that requires only facts to make the Karen (and her entire family) seem out of line. And we think you'll find it pretty entertaining.

Satisfying Times Liars Were Called Out For Their Shameless BS

I remember back in the summer of 1995, I decided to be super spontaneous and hop on a one-way train from Montreal to Seattle so that I could finally see my favorite band in the world—Nirvana. I was only 12 years old, but everyone always thought I was much older due to my exceptionally high IQ score of 200, so I wasn't too worried. The two-week journey was grueling, but luckily I managed to win a hefty chunk of change along the way after beating two large Russian men at several rounds of poker (those Canadian trains can get pretty wild). When I finally got to the venue entrance just as the opening band (who happened to be Radiohead) began playing, the door guy narrowed his eyes at me and asked 'wait just a minute there, where's your ticket and ID?' I took the wad of poker winnings from my pocket and slammed it on the table. 'Sold out' the door guy said, smirking at me smugly. I totally was heartbroken. I racked my genius brain for a solution, but nothing came. Just when I was about to give up, someone tapped me on the shoulder from behind. I turned around and almost screamed at the sight of Kurt Cobain himself, standing there like a guardian angel. In one swift move, he grabbed the cash, handed it back to me, and gestured for me to follow him through the entrance. On our way through he looked at the door guy and said 'you're fired, dude.' I got to watch Nirvana from the VIP area and then I spent the rest of the night hanging out with the whole band backstage and they laughed at all my jokes. It was the best night of my life.

There are three kinds of liars on the internet. Those who spread fake news, con-artists who try to scam others, and those who make up laughably fake stories for no good reason. It's relatively easy to lie online, especially with the whole internet and its wealth of resources at your disposal. But some people are very, very bad at bullsh*tting. In the age of 'reverse image search', that stolen image some redditor is trying to pawn off as their own is just one click away from being exposed by internet detectives. And these days it's just as easy to google something as it is to lie, so if you're going to post a lengthy tall tale about your non-existent memories of hanging out with Nirvana, perhaps you should fact-check your own lies first. That way, at the very least it might be an entertaining story.

We've got some amusing and pretty satisfying instances of liars getting called out for their BS on the internet. But it really makes you think—Seeing as we pulled these screenshots from the internet, who's to say that the lies aren't also lies? Anyone could photoshop a fake callout of a fake lie someone told and post it to r/QuitYourBullshit for karma. What if we're all just caught in an inception of internet lies? What if we're actually in the matrix and I'm not even typing this right now? Anyway...here's some content.

Too many people seem to assume that lying on the internet from behind the comfort of a keyboard somehow protects them from getting caught spreading BS. Elon Musk Earns 'Space Karen' Title After Complaining About Covid-19 Tests

If you thought the internet was done talking about Karens or Elon Musk, you were dead wrong. And Twitter offered us an unholy amalgam of the two this weekend. The SpaceX founder tweeted on Friday that "something extremely bogus is going on," regarding Covid-19 tests.

The tweet, unsurprisingly, was not well received. While many people resolved to call Elon Musk a "pos" and decry his penchant for fueling conspiracy theories, doctors and academics instead called him out in the best way they know how: with facts and statistics. While we admire every own, it was Dr. Emma Bell of Toronto, Ontario that delivered the harshest blow. In their takedown tweet, they refer to Elon Musk as "Space Karen." The nickname was received far better than Musk's cringey tweet. We've put together some of the best reactions to Musk's tweet and subsequent Karen-dom, but we're willing to bet you'll find more goodies on Twitter.

Funny memes and tweets Space Karen and about elon musk's cringey tweet about covid testing | Emma Bell PhD @emmabe1142 Rapid antigen tests trade sensitivity for speed. They return a result in minutes, but can only detect COVID-19 when you're absolutely riddled with it. What's bogus is that Space Karen didn't read up on the test before complaining to his millions of followers. Elon Musk @elonmusk Something extremely bogus is going on. Was tested for covid four times today. Two tests came back

JK Rowling Under Fire For Transphobic Tweets

JK Rowling, the author of the beloved Harry Potter books, is receiving a whole lot of criticism after tweeting several transphobic sentiments over the weekend. The internationally acclaimed writer took to Twitter with claims that a) you have to be a woman to menstruate, and b) trans women aren't actually women - and that their "claim" of the sex undermines the experiences of true women.

Rowling has a long history of being a TERF (trans-exclusionary radical feminist), and she's not alone. Doctor Who writer Gareth Roberts has been widely criticized for anti-trans tweets, and Graham Lineman (creator of The IT Crowd) has never been shy about his own TERF beliefs. Rowling just seems to get more attention for her backwards beliefs because she of her influence as the author of the Harry Potter series. She's very visible, and many people on Twitter have been quick to decry her exclusionary views. And we can't blame them. For someone who is heralded for bringing diversity to her imaginary wizarding world, she falls very short within her own politics. And the following Twitter users were eager to call her out.

JK Rowling attracts criticism on Twitter for transphobic tweets, anti-trans tweets, transphobia, TERF | J.K. Rowling O @jk_rowling respect every trans person's right live any way feels authentic and comfortable them. l'd march with if were discriminated against on basis being trans. At same time, my life has been shaped by being female do not believe 's hateful say so |

Tattoo Artist Gets Exposed For Blatantly Stealing Designs From Google

When you get caught in a glaringly obvious web of lies, the best policy is generally to just own up to it. Nobody's falling for your BS anyway so it's probably best to not make yourself look even more stupid.

This "tattoo artist" blatantly stole a bunch of their designs from other artists off of Google and then continued to play dumb after being called out.

And the worst part? The copied art is definitely not as good as the original!

Twitter user Mike Mulloy had the right idea when he called out Jacob Obers on Twitter for claiming that he and his girlfriend bought a house at age 19. Entitled Dude Gets Called Out After Falsely Claiming That He Paid His Own Way Through College

Some people are just more delusional than we can ever fathom. Like this guy, for example. It's not a secret in this day and age that college tuition isn't even remotely affordable for most, but this guy went out of his way on Twitter to try to explain how he supposedly managed to pay his own way through his education.

Twitter users, however, dug up some of his old tweets, and let's just say that he wasn't being especially truthful...

During an interview on Fox News, defense analyst Thomas Ricks accused the network of politicizing the attack in Benghazi, and being a "wing of the Republican Party." Fox immediately shuts the interview down.

Ricks later explained, "One reason I spoke the way I did is that the hero of my new book is George Marshall, the Army chief of staff during World War II. He got his position by speaking truth to power, and I try to follow that example."
