Shame on you, Animal Crossing.
Keanu Reeves is on everyone's mind. The actor, of Matrix and John Wick fame, has joined the ranks of Steve Irwin and Robby Rotten as a wholesome hero of sorts, and is getting meme'd as such. It was only a matter of time before somebody went full Disney with this trend, and we can thank Buzzfeed's Crystal Ro for being the first brave soul to combine the two. Her illustrations subbing Keanu for classic Disney princes are pretty immaculate, and while seemingly unnecessary, endlessly entertaining. We've thrown in a few of these masterpieces, but be sure to visit Buzzfeed to see the rest of these brilliant mashups.
If you're not watching Buzzfeed Unsolved then you need to get on that ASAP. The wildly popular YouTube show follows co-hosts Ryan Bergara, a firm believer in the paranormal, and the hilariously skeptical Shane Madej as they investigate true crime and the supernatural.
The show has inspired several well-known meme formats, including "Hey There Demons, It's Me Ya Boy," which you've likely seen floating around the internet by now.
Many have asserted that 'Unsolved' is what's kept Buzzfeed afloat in recent years. We're not going to comment on that, but either way go check this show out because it's definitely one of the best things on YouTube right now!
We know that memes and nostalgia go hand in hand, so it should come as no surprise that this still from Ed, Edd, n Eddy has become Twitter's meme of choice. The meme, which features Rolf pensively staring out a window, caught the attention of artist Elijah Rutland - who quickly decided to turn it into a meme of himself. Rutland, who is based in Georgia, told Buzzfeed that he didn't expect the edit to turn into such a viral meme. Before he knew it, there were tons of new edits circulating the net, especially on Black Twitter. It's been an incredibly inclusive meme, and a blast to track. Here are some of the funniest memes and tweets we've seen so far.
It's no secret that the internet really loves to hate on Buzzfeed. It's usually all fun and games, but recently a Buzzfeed headline appeared claiming that Stefan Karl Stefansson, who recently passed away from cancer, was actually the second best meme. This claim sent the Reddit community into an absolute frenzy, inspiring people to draft up a petition via Change.org to get Buzzfeed permanently deleted from the internet using the tag #DeleteBuzzfeed.
Of course, in the end the headline turned out to be fake, but that hasn't stopped the internet from attempting to totally destroy Buzzfeed with memes!
Wikihow is a treasure trove of bizarre instructional manuals and entertaining images. Some of these entries have also proven to be great meme material. The most recent example is an entry on how to prevent male cats from spraying. This trending meme utilizes two panels from the entry to create a super-exploitable meme, mocking everything from Rick and Morty to Buzzfeed.
We're huge fans of the bizarre world of WikiHow. The educational website is flush with strange illustrations and hyper-specific instructional articles. This piece on how to teach one's dog to speak has proven itself to be a highly successful exploitable meme format.
Russian tech executive Aleksej Gubarev was not pleased that Buzzfeed published an unverified dossier back in January. The dossier claims that Russia is in possession of incriminating information on Donald Trump - and specifically names Gubarev.
The Russian executive decided to file a libel lawsuit against the media company, which responded with an apology and the redaction of Gubarev's name from the dossier. While Buzzfeed is still struggling with the lawsuit, at least we have this entertaining mockery of the website's tendency to publish listicles and cat photos. Sometimes even lawyers can be funny.
