Hippies so scaaawy :(
Tiger King and murder hornets and coronavirus, oh my! Those things are bad enough, but that's not even half the sh*t that's happened in 2020 so far. We can't wait to see what other horrible things will happen in the second half of the year (that's sarcasm, obviously). Now Click here for even more 2020 content!
Over the past two weeks, mass protests for racial justice have erupted across the United States, seemingly overtaking any COVID-19 coverage on most news sources. Unfortunately, the pandemic isn't going away anytime soon, so we just want to remind y'all to keep wearing your masks and practice social distancing whenever possible!
As anti-racism protests continue to be held around the United States following the deaths of George Floyd and Breonna Taylor, many people are receiving some serious education in the area of race relations and the way police treat people of color. Given the climate, comic Kenny DeForest thought it was the right time to share this story from 2015. Dave Chappelle was a surprise guest at one of DeForest's shows at the Knit in Williamsburg, Brooklyn, and the crowd (who may have been hoping for a standard set) received a sobering and eye-opening story about the history of black people and police in the US. By the end, even people who initially made light of his tale were humbled and grateful for the experience. It feels very relevant right now, and is a testament to the fact that it is possible to change minds.
Ladies, gentlemen, and everyone in between: it's this week's Dank Drop! In typical 2020 fashion, this installment contains lots of apocalyptic content. And we don't expect that to change any time soon! Click here for last week's Dank Drop!
Remember the Apocalypse Bingo memes? They just seem to get more fitting every single day. In this particular installment of horrendous 2020 memes, we've got COVID-19, Anonymous, Ebola's return, and now...drum roll please... mass protests! Have fun!
You know how some people laugh when they're nervous or anxious? Yeah, that's us right now with these memes. 2020's latest little surprise for us has been protests and riots in response to the tragic murder of George Floyd at the hands of Minneapolis police. Accordingly, people have taken to the streets of major cities to protest police brutality and racism toward Black Americans. No one really knows what this all will amount to...revolution? More major government crackdowns? Whatever it is, we just want y'all to be safe.
And of course, if you plan to join the protests, be careful and wear a mask, because COVID-19 hasn't forgotten about us!
The people disobeying lockdown orders right now are like the kids in your fourth grade class who wouldn't follow the rules so the teacher kept punishing the entire class. So just remember, the more y'all keep breaking the rules the longer we all have to be in lockdown!
Now scroll down if you want to see some incredibly cringe-inducing posts, but honestly, we would understand if you don't.
It's probably safe to say that most people aren't taking this whole quarantine thing very well, but we grin and bear it for the greater good of humanity. On the other hand, while most of us are doing the right thing and obeying stay-at-home orders, there are a select few ruining it for everyone else.
Exhibit A: these protesters, who felt it'd be appropriate to march to the Ohio Statehouse Atrium and demand that lawmakers reopen nonessential businesses to the public.
If your first thought was, that is an incredibly stupid idea, you'd be correct, and the following memes and photoshopped pics display that sentiment perfectly.
Although we're pretty sure the original photo for this dank meme was probably a pretty serious protest or riot situation, it's certainly made for some good meme-age. Memers have been using it a whole bunch to represent things people might've stolen from Area 51, but it's branched off into other topics too!
