We've all seen this meme, entitled "Waiting For Dad," floating around the internet quite a bit by now, but you probably didn't know that it stems from an advertisement for Arrow Casual Wear in LIFE Magazine from 1954 that has since been edited to include the family menacingly brandishing knives. A lot of stuff from the 1950s was pretty WTF anyway, so it seems fitting that people started editing this meme to be a little more dark!

Pretty much every person over the age of 50 loves to complain about how terrible the current generation is, from smart phones to our being "entitled" about everything (because God forbid we just want to eat, amirite?). So the next time an old person tries to pull that crap on you, just whip out this gallery of highly disturbing foods that the public actually used to consume throughout the 20th century, and we're betting that it'll shut down any and every argument they could possibly have about who the "best generation" is.

The advertising world was a whole different universe in the 50's and 60's. This stuff would definitely trigger people today!

Clearly we've got a way to go when it comes to social justice and women's rights, but in years past women were held to nearly impossible standards of beauty and etiquette that seems outlandish in today's world. you won't believe how utterly messed up these old-school ads are!
