The Star Betelgeuse is Acting Strange, And Might Even Explode

Orion and his belt are one of the most recognizable constellations in the night sky. Seen around the world every day, it would be pretty obvious if something weird was going on, and that is exactly what casual observers and scientists alike have pounced on. Betelgeuse, one of the 10 brightest stars in the sky, has begun to dim, a common sign that a star is about to go supernova. So significant is the brightness of Betelgeuse that the entire view of the Orion constellation has shifted in its visibility. So what is happening in that corner of our night sky? Is this massive star going to be visible from space? History offers some insight.

What Would it Look Like if the Planets of the Solar System Were as Close as the Moon

One internet artist gave us a real perspective at what the planets would look like if they were as close as the moon. Can you imagine taking a selfie with Saturn in the background? Or taking a SpaceX weekend ride to Pluto? Whatever the case these visuals are simply incredible.

What would happen if the planets were as close to the Earth as the Moon? The cover photo is Jupiter if it was as close as the Moon is to the Earth

Extra Extra Read All About It - NASA Boss Thinks Pluto IS A Planet

Though downgraded to dwarf planet status, Pluto has been on the comeback trail of late. Many issues arose with the reclassification in 2006, including that only 424 of the 9000 members of the international organization in charge of making such decisions voted. In addition, immediately after the resolution, hundreds of planetary scientists petitioned against the changed classification. The problem began when the body changed the definition of what constitutes a planet, and due to Pluto lacking several of these features, it was demoted.

A recent mission to Pluto by NASA called New Horizons, recently gave us our closest and clearest look of Pluto and the surrounding planetary bodies in its area and orbit.

NASA Administrator goes on record stating Pluto is a planet. 13 years to the day that Pluto was reclassified, scientists reexamine the evidence.
