Mere hours after the widely well-received trailer reveal from Hideo Kojima for his new game Death Stranding, Norman Reedus took to Instagram to lay down an extra dash of hurt directly intended for Konami.

Konami and Kojima ended their professional working relationship with one another just after Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain came out last year. Their relationship got so bad that Kojima ended up being prevented entrance from The Game Awards last year, which still has some people pretty dang riled up. Reedus no doubt managed to get a strong final word in on the matter...

Square Enix, Eidos Montreal, and Open Bionics released this promotional video, which showcases quite a bit of promising progress on their combined efforts to create a cybernetic hand just like the one Adam Jensen uses in Deus Ex

And, maybe the most excitingly Open Bionics plans to make the bionic hand open source, and available to download for anyone with a 3D printer. Plus, Open Bionics is in collaboration with Razer to create a finger-mapping system that will allow anyone else with all their working limbs intact, to still operate the hand remotely.

This builds off an earlier move by Konami, when the company built one fan a Metal Gear Solid-inspired prosthetic arm.

Japan's Nikkei Newspaper is reporting that Hideo Kojima's days at Konami are finally done, so we can all be free from the emotional roller coaster that has been rumors of his departure from the game company.

After countless reports of mistreatment, weird branding moves that minimized Kojima's involvement in his own series, and that one time Konami tried to pretend he was just on vacation, it looks like Kojima's really left Konami, and he's starting his own company!

From Nikkei, translated by NeoGAF user Zefah:

Kojima Hideo, a famous video game creator known for the Metal Gear series has left Konami Digital Entertainment as of December 15th. He will form a new company where he will continue developing video games, with plans to release on platforms such as Sony Computer Entertainment (SCE)'s PlayStation. He is forming the new company with people who worked under him at Konami. The rights to the Metal Gear series, for which he is most known, remain at Konami, so he will begin working on an all new title. Final negotiations with SCE are underway for this new game to debut on PlayStation.

I for one can't wait to see what he does with a new series. What about you?

It's not often we get to say nice things about Konami these days, but the game company has teamed up with renowned prosthetic artist Sophie De Oliviera Barata to develop a Metal Gear Solid inspired prosthetic arm for James Young, a 25 year old fan who lost his arm in a train accident in 2012.

The arm will be visually inspired by the one featured in Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain, and will be multi-functional to fit James' needs. Hopefully he'll be able to use it to play MGSV.

The New Yorker published a piece on the reasons for Hideo Kojima's departure from Konami, and now the game company is denying he's even gone. According to Konami, Kojima is just taking a long vacation now that Metal Gear Solid V is done. On a technicality, they could be correct; supposedly, Kojima's contract with Konami goes through December, so he could still be an employee there if his contract isn't broken.

Konami also claims no knowledge of the photo above, which is supposedly his going away party that took place on October 9th.
