Everyone's favorite Chief Strategist and epidermic phenomenon has officially been fired from his position aiding the President. Bannon is widely believed to be at the root of the increasingly "nationalist" ideology in the White House, and the firing comes on the heels of Trump's controversial remarks regarding the Unite the Right rally.

 As one might expect,  Bannon's removal has spawned a great many memes - some savage, some looking back to simpler times, when we were mocking Scaramucci. Here are our favorites. 

Home Improvement star Tim Allen has crawled out of a hole to share some controversial thoughts about the theory of evolution. The actor took to twitter to pose the question "If we evolved from apes why are there still apes." We may not scientists, but we still know there is a LOT wrong with that statement. And Twitter seems to agree. 

James Woods' behavior has been pretty insane over the past few years. From his homophobic tweets about Anderson Cooper, to dating a drug arrestee 40 who is years his seniors, none of his weirdness is particularly surprising anymore. When the Casino actor posted an absurd tweet regarding the removal of Confederate statues, we were pretty nonplussed.

The thing is, Mr. Woods' social media post was as misguided as it was histrionic. The tweet, which reads "Before the #liberals find a reason to deface, destroy or degrade this one, I thought some of you might like to see it one more time..." is accompanied by a photo of the Iwo Jima memorial statue. 

Woods' bizarre example led to countless parodies, featuring pictures of statues and monuments ranging from the Jolly Green Giant to Michael Jackson. Here are our favorites.

We're living in some pretty surreal times. In case you've been living under a rock, earlier this week the country bore witness to the Unite the Right rally in Charlottesville, Virginia. The rally, an alt-right, neo-Nazi and white nationalist demonstration, had a bloody end - resulting in one death and 19 injuries. 

Whatever your politics, the violence is both despicable and scary. The internet responded to the rally in a variety of ways - thoughtful political cartoons, tongue-in-cheek memes, and mocking tweets. 

Time flies when you're having fun. We've been waiting for news of Gendry for FOUR years - and it turns out he's been right under our noses in Kings Landing. Davos didn't need to try very hard to convince Gendry to join the North; the blacksmith has a bone to pick with their common enemy, the Lannisters. 

While the return of his character is exciting, fans on Twitter seemed more excited about Davos' super meta rowing joke. The last time we'd seen Gendry was after Davos saved him from another Melisandre kings blood sacrifice. Gendry rowed into the mists, and we weren't sure if he'd be seen again. Over the years, fans have been making jokes that Gendry has just been rowing the whole time. Davos' joke ("I didn't think I'd find you. Thought you might still be rowing.") was a great shout out to invested fans - especially those on /r/IsGendryStillRowing and r/WhereIsGendry. 

Comedian Jen Kirkman is getting some serious flack for an outlandish theory she tweeted on August 7th. The tweet, which has since been deleted, read "1. Here's the deal. I believe in my heart Bernie is a KNOWING chaos agent paid by Russia in 2016 election. This is my OWN conclusion." 

Unfortunately for Kirkman, you can delete but you can't hide. The tweet was almost immediately turned into a meme, with Twitter users mocking Kirkman's theory in many creative ways. Some of the memes stay political, but others veer into super meta meme territory, and even gaming. Here's a selection of our favorite responses. 

Time Magazine is getting roasted on Twitter following their claim that "hold my avocado" is the catchphrase that's been missing from millennials lives. Their riveting think piece was inspired by a tweet from Google Ventures' Ken Norton. The tweet, which puts a millennial spin on "hold my beer," is definitely a clever joke - but clever jokes don't always make the best catchphrases.
