Project Reality 2 (or simply "PR2") will be a free to play multiplayer FPS PC game, based off of the critically acclaimed Project Reality modifications for Battlefield 2 and ARMA 2. Unlike our previous projects, PR2 will be a completely standalone game that will require no retail game to play. Our mission is to create the most realistic, immersive and demanding shooter within a virtual combat environment, focusing on encouraging teamwork through tactical gameplay.

The development team hopes to have an alpha build ready for internal testing within a couple of months. Read more about the game and their progress here!

According to the steam website:

Last year, we shipped a software feature called Big Picture, a user-interface tailored for televisions and gamepads. This year we've been working on even more ways to connect the dots for customers who want Steam in the living-room. Soon, we'll be adding you to our design process, so that you can help us shape the future of Steam.

Though sale of the hardware itself will come at a $60 loss for Sony, the company is expecting to make up those loses through the sale of games and Playstation Plus subscriptions, since nobody buys just the console. The PS4 is also expected to become profitable much sooner than the PS3 did, since this system has fewer custom components and (fingers crossed) better games too.

Speaking to Gamespot, Microsoft senior director of product management Albert Panello revealed that vertical orientation will not be supported for the XBox One:

We don't support vertical orientation; do it at your own risk. It wouldn't be a cooling problem, we just didn't design the drive for vertical. Because it's a slot loading drive, we just didn't design it for both.

Panello also claims that 80% of 360 owners keep their consoles horizontally. Do you?
