You've gotta' love how they incorporate Florence and the Machine's latest track, 'Stand By Me' into the background. Anyone else out there havin flashbacks to when they used Leona Lewis' "My Hands" for the Final Fantasy XIII trailer/commercial?

On the potentially more critical end of the spectrum, I can't help but ask what I imagine plenty of you out there are wondering along with myself: why the hell post what could've completely taken the video game announcement trailer world by storm in potato quality?

Ah well. The game itself is worthy of all the hype it's getting, like from this fan:

Woah man, woah indeed. If your curiosity's particularly aroused, definitely check out this footage from a live stream of the Final Fantasy XV demo:

Seriously this is flat-out epic. Sounds like we're set have access to this gold come September 30, 2016; and time couldn't pass sooner. Body is ready. The Sept. 30th release date makes total sense, considering we now know Star Ocean 5 drops June 28th (also same day as Zero Time Dilemma), and with Deux Ex set for August, that ultimately works to split up S-E's release schedule as efficiently as possible.

Oh, and in closing a new demo arrives today, in which you follow the young Noctis. So, that's epic. What a day indeed.

After a very long development cycle, it seems like gamers will finally get to play Final Fantasy XV.

The game, originally developed under the title Final Fantasy Versus XII first saw the light of day when Square Enix showed it off at E3 in 2006.

But don't worry Final Fantasy fans, Director Hajime Tabata gave a prospective release window for the game that's not terribly far away.

He confirmed with Gamespot that it will come in 2016.

"I understand why people are feeling that way after coming to Cologne and speaking to a lot of the media," he said. "We really do get the feeling that people are a bit worried. Certainly, one thing I would like to say to them to reassure them, is that we've set down the release date, we know when it is, and we've got a complete road map lined up, right up to launch, and we're proceeding along that as planned."

Then, Tabata dropped the best indication of the Final Fantasy XV release date yet: "We can certainly say to people: it's not going to be 2017. It's going to be before that."

As Tabata said, not a lot of other announcement have come out of Gamescom 2015 about the game. However, we did learn a lot about the backstory that drives the game (and the backstory of the dude who drives the car).

It seems like only yesterday all we knew about the latest, probably still very far away from being released, Final Fantasy game is a bunch of dudes bro-ing it up on a road trip.

Actually, that was the case only yesterday.

But look! Backstory! And some fatherly love!
