In Medieval Europe, people were sometimes named after what their father's job was (and likely what their job would be as well), which explains surnames like Smith, Baker, and Butcher. Having those names would give them some shoes to fill (hey, there's another one: "Schumacher," or "shoemaker"), but I'm guessing Mr. Perv chose not to fill the ones he was given...
