A Heartwarming Collection of Quotes and Stories About Compliments That People Never Forgot

It's important to remember that it doesn't take a lot of effort to do a bit of good for someone else. We often get so caught up in our own daily struggles that we completely forget that there are other people around us going through the same tumultuous adventure of ups and downs that is this crazy thing called life. Often it doesn't take much to improve someone's day for the better and just brighten things even a little bit.

Doing a few kind things is even more important during times when hatred and fear looms, for only caring and kindness can overturn those feelings.

But I'm really just paraphrasing because, as always, Tolkien wrote it best...

"Some believe it is only great power that can hold evil in check, but that is not what I have found. It is the small everyday deeds of ordinary folk that keep the darkness at bay. Small acts of kindness and love." -J.R.R Tolkien

These people's stories go to show how far something like a simple compliment can go in someone's life, especially when it's most needed and unexpected. Just little things people did that they still remember and that gave some color to their world.

Aussie Grandfather Posts an ad for a 'Fishing Mate' and the World's Reaction is Heartwarming.

This widowed Aussie old timer got more than he bargained for, in the best way possible, when he posted an ad to a local website looking for a new 'fishing mate'.

The internet got a hold of his ad and recirculated it on sites like twitter and imgur, and before long he had been flooded with support and offers to go fishing.

Someone even went and started a gofundme for the old bloke to send him on a fishing trip.

From the description:

"We're just a couple of guys who have heard Rays story and want to see him have a good fishing trip.
At the moment the cost is to cover his return flight from Adelaide to Sydney and back home, accommodation, food expenses and any costs associated to get him fishing. Anything left will go to Ray himself or a charity if he chooses as such.
Should we raise above the required limit we can look at sending Ray around the country to fish with a few different people."

It's always nice to see people rally behind a good cause

A couple months ago Redditor NoohjXLVII posted online, thanking Bethesda for Fallout 4, which he said helped keep his mind off a family tragedy.

“I have spent over 500 [hours] in this game,” NoohjXLVII wrote on the Fallout 4 Reddit (via Eurogamer). “Partly due to the fun gameplay, the new survival mode, and just the game in general. My dad passed away last year (age 56)... I didn’t take it well.”

He dealt with the pain through creating a bipedal sentry bot and naming it after his father -- GR-36 (father's name was Greg). Then, this summer NoohjXLVII was struck yet again by another devastating blow: he received a call that his 24-year-old brother was in the ICU. His brother passed away shortly thereafter, and his friends started up a GoFundMe, which details his medical condition.

“Thank you Bethesda for providing me with this wonderful game and distraction for everything I’m going through,” NoohjXLVII wrote.

“The words they use sound exactly like him, however he was also a pretty funny guy, full of puns,” NoohjXLVII wrote online yesterday, giving thanks to Bethesda, and saying he'd forever be in their debt.

“P.S.,” NoohjXLVII added. “Don’t feel guilty about taking his stuff! He insists you take it and in real life he would give you the shirt off of his back to help those in need.”
