"Uhh... h-hey, buddy! H-h-how's it... how's it going? You're not... you're not hungry, a-are you?"
It's the summer feeding season in for bears in Alaska right now, which typically runs May through late September. During this period, Alaskan brown bears will eat massive quantities of salmon, berries, grass, rodents, and small mammals, in preparation for winter hibernation. This makes summer the safest month to be around bears (although "safest" doesn't mean much; it's still super unsafe!) because they're walking around in lazy, lethargic, perpetual food comas.
"Naw, dude... I just had like 50 Doritos Locos Tacos, man... really freakin' full right now... uuuggghhh..."
If you donate $20,000 to his Wild Wolf Sanctuary and Food Depot campaign, George RR Martin will write you into the Song of Ice and Fire series (and probably kill you off). There are plenty of other more reasonable rewards, too. Any donation you make will enter you into a drawing to spend the day with the author, touring the wolf sanctuary. Check it out here!
